On Thursday March 8, 2007, by an overwhelming majority, the Commission on Chicago Landmarks approved Prism Development’s proposal to restore the façade of a landmark building on the Magnificent Mile and rebuild it as part of a luxury Condominium development. The plan calls for meticulously removing and cataloging the elements of the limestone façade of the 1920s Farwell Building at 664 N. Michigan Avenue, former site of the Terra Museum of American Art. Prism would then raze the 11-story deteriorated structure making way for a new foundation, structure, and strong-back system to receive the restored façades. The Historic Structure Report which carefully documents the historic façade is now compelete. Dismantlement is now underway.
